Disclosure statement: IMPORTANT INFORMATION TO KNOW
This document sets out important information about The Insurance Pad’s financial advice service. It is important that you read it carefully to ensure you understand it. Please contact your INSURANCE PAD adviser if you have any queries.
Licensing Information
THE INSURANCE PAD NZ Limited (FSP733531) trading as THE INSURANCE PAD holds a licence issued by the Financial Markets Authority to provide financial advice. The following advisers also trade as THE INSURANCE PAD and are authorised under that licence to provide financial advice.
Tara Natalie Nel - FSP556726
If you wish to view THE INSURANCE PAD’s registration and licence, please go to the Financial Service Providers Register https://fsp-register.companiesoffice.govt.nz and search our company Financial Service Provider (FSP) number FSP66842. As a licensed Financial Advice Provider, THE INSURANCE PAD has standard conditions to our licence. There are no conditions specific to THE INSURANCE PAD nor limitations or restrictions on the advice that may be given.
Nature and Scope of our Financial Advice Service
THE INSURANCE PAD provides advice about life & health insurance. Our financial advisers provide financial advice in relation to these financial advice products. We only provide financial advice about products from certain providers.
For Life Insurance, we are accredited with 5 companies:
AIA, Asteron Life, Chubb Life, Fidelity Life and Partners Life.
For health insurance, we are accredited with 3 providers:
AIA, NIB and Partners Life.
Fees or Expenses
THE INSURANCE PAD does not charge fees, expenses or any other amount for the financial advice provided to clients except in the particular circumstances set out below and agreed in advance with the client. THE INSURANCE PAD may charge a fee for the financial advice provided to a client where a client cancels a life or health insurance policy within two years of inception. Whether a fee will be charged and the manner in which it will be charged will be advised when the advice is provided to the client.
Conflicts of Interests and Incentives
THE INSURANCE PAD and the associated financial advisers receive commissions from the Companies on whose products we give financial advice (the insurers). If you decide to take out insurance, the provider will pay a commission to THE INSURANCE PAD and to your financial adviser. The amount of commission is based on the amount of the annual insurance premium. From time to time, product providers may also reward us for the overall business we provide to them. They may give us tickets to sports events, hampers,
or other incentives.
THE INSURANCE PAD’s adviser Tara Nel has a financial interest in the business of THE INSURANCE PAD as a Shareholder of THE INSURANCE PAD Limited. Any issue regarding payment of dividends or other distributions to The Insurance Pad shareholders by THE INSURANCE PAD Limited has no effect on the service provided.
To ensure that the advisers prioritise your interests above their own, The Insurance Pad operates a comprehensive and robust framework with policies and procedures. The adviser follows an advice process that ensures the recommendations made are based on your goals and circumstances. The Insurance Pad Financial Advisers undergo an annual compliance review and receive training about the policies and procedures including how to manage ‘conflicts of interest’. In addition, the Insurance Pad maintains and
monitors a register of ‘conflicts of interests’, and the gifts and incentives received.
Complaints and Dispute Resolution
If you are not satisfied with the service you have received from THE INSURANCE PAD please contact us. We have an internal complaints process and undertake to investigate your concerns promptly and fairly.
